Best foreign language film went to Hungary’s Laszlo Nemes’ “Son of Saul”, a harrowing view of life inside Auschwitz, and best animated film went to Pixar’s acclaimed “Inside Out”.
Inarritu, whose “Birdman” swept the Oscars previous year, also beat out “The Martian’s” Ridley Scott for the best director award.

Jon Hamm won his second Golden Globe for best actor in a drama for his portrayal of womanizing advertising executive Don Draper in “Mad Men”, whose finale aired past year. “Creed” is the seventh installment of the boxing film franchise. After sweeping numerous top award categories, many believe that this should be a sign pointing to where the Academy Awards could go. Upon accepting the globe for the film about a presumed dead astronaut who survives a mission to Mars, Scott said “Comedy?”.
It proved to be a particularly exciting evening for the Titanic actor, who picked up the award for best actor following his stunning performance in The Revenant. He did not seem to mind the comedy category, saying he knew “how lucky I am to do this for a living”.
And Jennifer Lawrence told off a reporter in the press room who was asking her about her Joy win… while constantly staring at his phone.
As for the Television Series category, “Mr. Robot” and “Mozart in the Jungle” were awarded as the Best TV Series for the Drama and Comedy categories, respectively, while “Wolf Hall” got the recognition for Best TV Movie or Limited Series.

For his efforts over the years, Denzel Washington clinched the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement prize.
