Clinton calls on White House to stop deportation raids
Bernie Sanders said he’d noticed Hillary Clinton’s campaign stepping up its attacks on him. “She’s having a tough time”, Trump told Jimmy Fallon during last night’s appearance on The Tonight Show. “In fact, I think they are divisive. But he said he’s a socialist, and I think he may be a step beyond a socialist”. Is Clinton in danger of being upstaged in the Democratic primary – again? She also embraced Obama’s recent executive actions on guns.
Until now, Clinton has rarely mentioned Sanders by name at her campaign events, choosing instead to warn voters about the risks of electing a Republican.
That Sanders now has a shot at winning the first two states in the Democratic nominating process is in part a reflection of their makeup: Iowa and New Hampshire are whiter and more liberal than the broader party electorate.
Half of New Hampshire Democrats feel that her husband, former President Bill Clinton can help his wife win, while 12 percent say his presence on the trail hurts her, and 32 percent say he’ll have little impact.
Speaking at a forum aimed at young and minority voters, Clinton said the raids had “sown fear and division in immigrant communities across the country”. Biden described Bernie Sanders on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, as more authentic on economic inequality than Hillary Clinton and defended Sanders’ record on gun control during an interview with CNN.
“Secretary Clinton and her campaign is in serious trouble”, Sanders said, adding that she was no longer the “anointed” one.
“I know she doesn’t really understand what’s happening, but I talk to her about the news every day”, Chelsea Clinton said.
Fallon also noted that Trump had said he believed President Barack Obama had cried during remarks this month about gun violence – despite some conservative pundits’ claims he had faked it.
Clinton has attacked Sanders in recent days for his 2005 vote that protected gun manufacturers from lawsuits.
Asked whether Sanders needed to change his position to qualify for his support, Biden said no. Mrs. Clinton has spent years focusing on foreign policy, Biden said Tuesday on NBC’s “Today”, while inequality has been Sanders’s “mantra” since he leapt into the campaign. But later that day, in the forum, he doubled down on his defense of his vote on the controversial bill, which the Clinton campaign immediately highlighted.
Clinton also unveiled her plan for a 4 percent “surcharge” tax on the wealthiest Americans, seeking to ensure that multimillionaires do not pay lower rates than middle-class families.
The endorsement provides Clinton with yet another data point to contrast herself with Vermont Sen.
