OH home explosion leaves family of four dead
A family of four is dead after a home exploded in northeast OH on Monday night.
The Northfield Center Fire Department said crews were dispatched to the home, about 30 minutes outside Cleveland, following a report of an explosion at around 9 p.m. ET.
Authorities say the bodies of a mother and child were found on the first floor of the home.
He said he and his son, Nate, kicked down the door of the house – freeing the family dog – and yelled for the family. He did not identify the victims.
WJW reported that though firefighters were initially called to the home for reports of a gas explosion, investigators have not confirmed what caused the tragedy. We also want to thank Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Northfield Center Service Dept.
The identities of the victims have not been released. “There was debris and a lot of insulation all over the ground, a lot of smoke”, he told WEWS. “This indicates that Dominion East Ohio facilities – and natural gas – did not contribute to the event at 7486 Skyhaven Drive in Northfield Center”. The house was fully engulfed in flames. He says he and his son immediately ran to the house and broke the front door down, thinking the whole time about saving anyone inside. We just looking everywhere’.
“And she was like hovered over”, said Chief Risko. Parents, hug your kids extra today and may God bless you.
“We heard people running by outside and we ran out, too”, he said. “They always wanted to play”.
