Texas Radar Shows Bug Swarm
QUANAH, Texas- The National Weather Service radar wasn’t showing light rain in parts of Texas on Wednesday.
A bug swarm in Texas on July 22 was so large that it appeared on radar, according to the National Weather Service.
The bugs are swarming from the ground up to 2,500 feet, Mitchell says, covering a distance of over 50 miles. Eventually, experts in Oklahoma realized that the buzzing cloud of yellow, black, brown, and green was most likely insects on the move. Radar is very sensitive and if the conditions are just right, it can pick up all sorts of non-weather related objects and creatures.
The interesting radar image came from the area near Copper Breaks State Park, west of Wichita Falls. Again, says the report from UPI, local residents (or those elsewhere in the country) have no particular reason to fear.
