Dolphins schedule second interview with Bears OC Adam Gase
They interviewed six other candidates, including interim coach Dan Campbell, who guided Miami to a 5-7 record after replacing Philbin.
Gase is the only candidate to be called back for a second interview by the Dolphins. “Someone that could relate to young and talented players that we believe we have, and somebody that was high energy and competitive”.
Gase, the NFL’s hottest head coaching candidate among assistants, first met with the Dolphins on Thursday. While Gase was the Denver Broncos’ offensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014, the Broncos led the National Football League in scoring offense (34.0 points per game), total offense (430.1 yards per game) and passing offense (315.8 yards per game). His prior work with players such as Jay Cutler, Peyton Manning and Tim Tebow is a major reason Gase stood above the crowd and became the team’s third head coach in six seasons. Tannehill also regressed this season after signing a $96 million contract past year.

Given the importance of Tannehill’s development to Gase’s chances of success in Miami, there are certainly worse places for him to focus his attention.
“I’m very happy for Adam”, Manning said Saturday.
They did interview former head coaches Mike Shanahan, Mike Smith and Doug Marrone this week. Gase would be working under new Dolphins GM Chris Grier, along with vice president Mike Tannenbaum and owner Stephen Ross. Gase marks the Dolphins ninth coach since 2004, according to The Sun-Sentinel.
“He’ll be an excellent head coach without a doubt”, Manning said in a statement released by the Dolphins. “I want to go a lot further than that, as do the fans”. “He’s ready for this for sure”. The explosive offense helped Denver finish the regular season 13-3, winning the AFC West and earning the top seed in the AFC playoffs, where the Broncos won the conference title and played in Super Bowl XLVIII.
The 37-year old Michigan State alumn started his career as a graduate assistant at LSU before moving to the NFL.
