Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950 XL will be available in November

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella today said that the company does not have a good flagship smartphone, but it seems that the Windows Phone maker is readying a couple of devices to rectify the situation. According to a new report from a Chinese tech blog dedicated to Windows Phone, which apparently has credible track record, now claims that Microsoft will be skipping a flagship Lumia generation from the current Lumia 930 to the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.

It is likely that the two smartphones will be the first models to run on Windows 10 mobile operating system.

Now, putting together all the previous rumors and corroborating it with information coming from multiple reliable sources, WindowsCentral published the full specs of these devices. We’ll point out that these are described as prototype specs that could be changed by the time of the finished articles.

Both the Lumia 950 and the 950XL come in a full metal body so these will definitely be premium looking devices.

The high-end smartphone will boast a 5.2-inch OLED capacitive touchscreen display that support Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, it’ll have a six-core Snapdragon 808 processor bundled with 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of expandable storage.

Next in line, Lumia 950 XL, also know as Cityman, will be available in Matter White or Black and will be made of the same polycarbonate material. It will have a 5.7-inch display, with the same 2K resolution as the standard variant. Just like the Talkman, it will pack iris scanner (infrared) for Windows Hello and microSD card slot (up to 128GB). There’s 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage (expandable), an 8-megapixel rear camera with Zeiss optics, autofocus, and LED Flash, and 5-megapixel front-facing shooter.

Other slight upgrades on the larger device include a 1mm silver ring inside the circumference of the camera pod and aluminium side buttons. Aside from the bigger screen, the Lumia 640 XL comes also with a primary camera of 13MP, a secondary camera of 5MP and a battery of 3000 mAh.
