Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush aims Donald Trump in his GOP campaign
“At the same time, Bush said, there are two kinds of “universes”, one being the “[Donald] Trump universe that garners most of the attention on the media and all the different outlets, and then there’s the town hall meetings, and people are actually curious about your views on Social Security and education or the challenges of a small business”.
“This is not how America should lead”, said Bush, commenting that when former President Richard Nixon and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger brought Egypt under the security umbrella of the United States, it was a success and we’ve abandoned it”.
Toward the end of the interview, Hewitt asked Bush about the possibility and the rumor that his brother would join him on the campaign trail in SC. Marco Rubio and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson.
“I know people care about my family- they love my brother, they love my dad and they love my mom”, Bush told reporters after the event. “No other candidate would say what he did mocking someone who had a severe disability- no one would do that.I mean are you kidding me?”
Trump won 32% support among New Hampshire Republicans, an increase of 6 percentage points from the last Monmouth poll there, taken in November. “Everybody is going to be scrutinized, this is not bean bag.in fact, I’ve been around a few cycles, and this is pretty tame so far”. “I don’t respect the first impulse he always has.which is to take rights away from law-abiding citizens, it’s always his first impulse, it’s the impulse of Hillary Clinton as well”.
Bush said he’s noticed that the crowds coming out to see him have doubled, and there seems to be more excitement. “I think we should recruit as numerous liberals like him into our cause”.
Bush continued to insist Trump would not be the Republican presidential nominee.
“This morning I didn’t have a band-aid on it and I tried to put my buttons on, the buttons for my shirt, because it’s hard to do it with a thumb that doesn’t work”, he told reporters.
But not everyone is swayed by Bush’s offensive against Trump.
The voter who asked the question, Tom Emanuel, wasn’t persuaded and told CNN he was “definitely” still leaning towards Trump. “It makes a great sound bite, but that’s just not going to happen”. “I think our Navy has been devastated just by neglect”.
“I don’t apologize for it because he is a jerk, if he disparages P.O.W.s like John McCain, saying he’s not a hero because he got caught”, he said.
“Yes”, Bush said when asked if a pipeline or electric transmission line was an appropriate use for eminent domain.
Bush said often past year that people knew him as the son of former President George H.W. Bush and brother of former President George W. Bush, “but I’m going to have to show who I am, show my heart”.
