Facebook reveals Oculus Rift’s prices, preorders begin
Oculus on Wednesday disclosed the long-awaited preorder details of its Oculus Rift VR headset, which will cost $599, and first begin shipping on March 28. Luckily, potential buyers can download a Rift compatibility tool from Oculus to check if their machine needs an upgrade.
Oculus Touch, the Rift’s unusual hand controllers, will be launching later in 2016. Earlier this week Oculus announced that the Rift would be available for pre-order – that day has come folks, the Rift is up for grabs!
Running the Oculus Rift requires powerful computers. Neither of those prices include shipping. Bundled with the headset are two virtual reality optimised titles: platformer Lucky’s Tale and dog-fighting shooter EVE: Valkyrie.

The VR headset needs a compatible PC to let you enter in the VR world, so if you do not own one yet, add that as the additional cost.
Oculus Rift preorders opened at 8AM PST this morning via the Oculus Shop page at the price of $599/£499/ €699. The VR headset maker has made a decision to give out Kickstarter Edition Oculus Rift VR headsets to initial backers for free.
Most of the games coming out at launch for the Rift will be “seated” virtual reality experiences. Rift will also be available in limited locations at select retailers starting in April, according to the blog post. It also includes an Xbox One controller, the wireless adapter to connect it to a PC and the Oculus Remote for simplified input.
