The Force Awakens Breaks US Box Office Record
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is being heralded as the highest box office grossing film of all time in North America.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” managed to be the top-grossing film in Ireland for 2015 – despite only being released two weeks before the end of the year.
Avatar was able to earn a whopping $2.78 billion in sales which earned it the highest-grossing film of all time, according to Hollywood Reporter. Furious 7 holds the record for the biggest global movie in China with $391.4 million in ticket sales, Bloomberg reports.

And finally, adjusted for inflation, 1939’s “Gone With the Wind” still rules, according to Box Office Mojo. Beyond the major box office success, The Force Awakens remains on track to nail world records throughout its run.
The Force Awakens was made on a budget of $200 million and its lead actor Harrison Ford was paid a whopping Rs 228 crores, which is nearly an equal amount of Baahubali budget.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is in 21st place behind classics such as The Sound of Music, E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial and Titanic.
Most notable among the franchise movie industry, “Star Wars” has four movies on the list, including the 1977 original, “A New Hope”, which still ranks eighth highest-grossing of all time at box office.
This is just the latest in many records the seventh episode in the “Star Wars” franchise has broken. J.J. Abrams’ film surpassed the record, from 2009, in a total of just 20 days in North American theaters.
For Star Wars, the film is holding its audience well considering the scope of the numbers involved, but it will surely flame out faster than those two films did.
