George Clooney is a hostage in the first Money Monster trailer
From the looks of it, Money Monster is going to be a taut and topical thriller, one which will no doubt be bolstered by strong performances. This notion is bolstered by the new trailer for Money Monster.
From there, Julia Roberts (who plays the show’s producer, Patty Fenn) must work to regain control of the situation, save Gates, and neutralize Budwell, all while following up on Budwell’s allegations of fraud.
As the Yahoo! article points out, there is a slight Sidney Lumet vibe to the trailer. It has that tone of something that’s deadly real, yet, there’s a hint of satire in it. Though we have a little less satire than Lumet in Network, for example. It is rigged for the elite who understand the system.
“The film is not a polemic”, Foster revealed.
Money Monster opens in theaters March 31st.
A thriller from Jodie Foster, the film stars George Clooney as a presenter whose money-oriented live TV show is interrupted when he’s taken hostage by a blue-collar worker (Jack O’Connell) turning to violence following his recent financial losses. They’re both held hostage on the air by a young man who lost everything when he followed Gates’ advice and invested in a tech stock that mysteriously crashes.
