Gun fired in Delaware middle school; no one hurt
The shooting doesn’t appear to be related.
Preliminary investigations indicate that one of the two students brought the gun to school and possibly gave it to another student, Hoffman said.
They say it’s not clear if the gun was intentionally fired.
The school was put on lockdown.
No students are being allowed on or off campus, and although some parents have driven to the school, 2101 Greenview Shores Blvd., in the drizzling weather, they are being asked to leave because “everything is locked down”.
A threat called into Laurel Highlands Middle School on Tuesday morning prompted district officials to evacuate the school, calling in state police to sweep the building. “But to see this number of schools being called within a short period of time is very unusual”.
Police say several DE schools were evacuated Monday after receiving computer-generated phone calls issuing bomb threats. Local police in Greenwood and Milford were also investigating bomb threats to schools in their jurisdictions.
Caesar Rodney High School, Seaford Middle School and Smyrna Elementary School were also subject to bomb threats this morning.
Fournier says searches were conducted but nothing suspicious was found.
