No charges for man who killed son he mistook for intruder
The man thought an intruder had come into his home around 6:30 a.m. He heard a noise in the basement, and grabbed a gun to go check it out.
After the father sent a text to Georta to confirm he was on the bus, the teen called to say that he was indeed on board, a news release from Deters’ office said.
Police Lt. Steve Saunders says the father is being interviewed by police and has been cooperative.
Authorities said the teen planned to hide in the basement until his father went to work, according to Fox 19.
An Ohio father shot and killed his teenage son early Tuesday morning, apparently mistaking him for an intruder, Cincinnati police said.
“Oh God”, the father repeats in the 911 call obtained by WCPO.
These types of tragedies are so horrific, theyre even unimaginable, Police Chief Eliot Isaac told reporters.
The father had dropped the boy off at the school bus stop but the teen returned home.
Investigators say they had no immediate suspects and were trying to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting.
But the boy, identified as Georta Mack, died in the hospital later from the gun wounds at his neck.
The case was turned over to prosecutors who will decide if charges will be brought against the father.
Isaac said those who have guns in their homes should get training and make sure they keep them secured.
