Arab Foreign Ministers Bash Iran for Supporting Terrorism
Saudi’s Arabia’s Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said that Arab nations would “confront” the Islamic Republic if it does not change its ways, without elaborating.
“Iran has to decide what kind of neighbor it wants to be: a good neighbor or a chaotic neighbor and so far it behaves like the latter”, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan said following an emergency Arab League meeting in Cairo.
Aziz also told the committee that Islamabad would rather play a mediatory role between Riyadh and Tehran – rather than taking sides – with a view to easing mounting tension between the two regional powers.
In Riyadh, Ahmed Alibrahim, Saudi affairs specialist and security analyst, told Al Jazeera’s Inside Story that if it were not for the attack on its embassy, “Saudi would not have cut its diplomatic relationship with Iran”.
Putin underscored that Russian Federation is ready, if necessary, to take part in the resolution of the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Iran’s judiciary chief slammed Saudi Arabi on Monday for its hostile policies towards Tehran claiming that Saudi policies are serving the interests of the United States and Israel by harming the Muslim world, according to a report by Fars News.
The crisis erupted when Saudi Arabia executed a prominent Shi’ite cleric on January 2 and Iranian protesters retaliated by storming and setting fire to the Saudi embassy in Tehran.
After a mob in Tehran attacked the Saudi embassy, the government in Riyadh severed diplomatic and some commercial ties, and several allies followed suit.
He said Pakistan will be sharing intelligence with Saudi Arabia to counter terrorism.
The Cabinet condemned the attacks, destruction, burning and looting at the kingdom’s embassy in Tehran and consulate in Mashhad, noting that the attacks came after Iranian aggressive regime’s comments which formed a blatant incitement that encouraged attacks on the missions and represented a flagrant violation of all worldwide agreements, charters and treaties.
“We support a political solution to the Syrian problem without interference from the outside”, the official said. Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain will form a subcommittee to continue discussing the issue.
Numerous smaller Gulf Arab states fret that deeper Saudi-Iranian tensions may only spur Iranian muscle-flexing.

Shi’ite activists in eastern Saudi Arabia sought to distance themselves from the Qatif attack, saying it could discredit peaceful protests that had been taking place in the area since Nimr’s execution.
