2 dead, 2 missing after northeast Ohio house explosion
A family of four have been killed after an explosion shook their home in northeast Ohio.
The explosion that rocked the neighborhood was reported around 8:30 p.m. Monday.
“Emergency responders arrived on the scene and saw flames shooting from the home”.
Northfield Center – The Summit County Medical Examiner’s office has identified two of the four victims in Monday’s Skyhaven Road house fire/explosion as Jeffrey and Cynthia Mather, both 43.

Crews at the scene recovered the bodies of a father, mother and their two daughters- ages 8 and 12.
After breaking down the front door, the family dog came running out but there were no other signs of life. “There was debris and a lot of insulation all over the ground, a lot of smoke”, he told WEWS. Chief Risko said, “For a fire to burn that intensely, that quickly and for these people not to have had a chance to get out, that is all part of the puzzle here isn’t it”. “We were yelling and nothing”.
Nickschinski’s daughter, Danielle, said she babysat for the family from time to time. “Our deepest sympathies and thoughts are with the family and community as we all grieve the loss of this very special woman and her family”.
If something is obviously wrong, like sparks or flames, you should evacuate the house immediately, warn others nearby and then call 911 from a safe location.
