Xiaomi Mi 5: Game of Two, Twenty, and Twenty One
One of the most anticipated flagship smartphones in Q1 2016, the Xiaomi Mi5, is about to make its debut on the market.
However, the most advanced Mi5 variant will pack a 5-inch display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, so customers will be able to choose from either of two models. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is all set to have two variants and this is particularly to do with the pixel density of the phones.
There is a possibility that this model may pass off as another variant of the Xiaomi Mi 5 and that the Mi 5 Plus may indeed be a larger model, but till we have proof, we’d need to consider this as the Mi 5 Plus. So, the standard version of Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to have a 2.5D curved glass display with Full HD (1080x1920p) resolution and a metallic frame.
Last but not least, Xiaomi Mi5 is now expected to be officially unveiled on January 21, but it won’t be available for purchase until February 8. The other will be a slightly premium, metal-clad version with a 5.2-inch QHD (1440x2560pixels) display, the report claims.
In earlier industry reports it was stated that Mi5’s one variant will have 32GB inbuilt storage and 3GB RAM, priced around CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 20,300).
The two variants of the Xiaomi Mi 5 are said to differ in terms of build material, processor, RAM and storage. Expected to feature the Snapdragon 820, the phone is likely to come with a 16MP primary camera and a 13MP front camera, with a battery life of 3600mAh. The smartphone is said to run MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. If rumours are right, then we would also be expecting for the Mi5 to be equipped with 3D Touch technology too (and its rumoured 2 variants have been getting more widespread).
