Watch Intel set a Guinness World Record with drones
Strap lights to them and launch them into the air.
Dubbed Drone 100, the show has set an official world record Guinness World Record for most UAVs airborne simultaneously and the video was first shown during Krzanich’s CES 2016 keynote.
The display culminated with the flying machines spelling out Intel in the sky, prompting rapturous applause and cheering from the spellbound audience.
Speaking at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Brian Krzanich said Intel was “able to completely redefine the firework experience”.
Intel has claimed a Guinness World Record for its latest artistic drone swarm. The drone formation was controlled by a single operator using custom hobby-made drones with a Wi-Fi connection to help coordinate their flight.
Intel has also released a cool behind-the-scenes look at “Drone 100”, which you can see below.
Horst Hoertner, senior director of Ars Electronica’s Futurelab, said that Drone 100 is meant to show a different side to drones, which are known to many as weapons. The team found some initial success in September of that year lighting up the sky with 50 LED-equipped drones over the Danube river.
The drone’s paths were originally drawn out by hand before being input into 3D design software so as to allow precise coordination for each aircraft’s movement. The video below is definitely worth a watch.
