Woman sues EOS lip balm for allegedly causing painful blisters
The lawsuit, which was filed by consumer Rachael Cronin, states that after applying EOS lip balm, within hours she began noticing a change her lips.
According to Us Weekly, the lawsuit argues that EOS, which stands for Evolution of Smoothness, is “anything but smooth”, and states that Cronin suffered from rashes, bleeding, blistering, cracking and loss of pigmentation after using the product.
A class action lawsuit has been filed against EOS, claiming its lip balm causes skin to crack, bleed and blister.
She reportedly ended up with blisters and a rash on her face which lasted up to 10 days.
Looks like EOS, everyone’s (including Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, and Britney Spears) favorite spherical lip balm, is in some serious hot water.
There’s dry lips and then there’s “severely cracking on the edges” dry lips.
The lawsuit is seeking damages and demands corrective advertising.
EOS, the maker of the recognizable bulb-shaped lip balms, is being sued for causing blistering and other harsh reactions.
The court documents read: “While boasting celebrity endorsements and magazine advertisements, and while making lofty representations regarding the health and curative effects of their lip balm products, EOS provides no warnings on its product, packaging, labelling, or anywhere on the website regarding health problems”. One of the fans stated, “I have been using these since they came out in 2009, and nothing has happened to my lips”.
Yahoo Health reached out to EOS for comment.
“I get lip balm just as good for half of the price”. An independent laboratory puts each of our products through a battery of rigorous testing to ensure this is the case.
EOS responded to TMZ and said the following: “We firmly believe this lawsuit is without merit”.
