Splitsville for “soulmates” Freida Pinto and Dev Patel

Dev Patel, 24, and Freida Pinto, 30, first met on the set of Danny Boyle’s critically acclaimed movie Slumdog Millionaire, where they played on-screen lovebirds. The brunette beauty and her longtime boyfriend Dev Patel who were going strong in their 6-year old relationship, are no longer together. They have been one of the cutest co-stars who turned couple during Slumdog Millionaire.

Freida Pinto was previously engaged to her publicist Rohan Antao. Several months later, post the wrap up of the ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ shooting, Freida ended her engagement with Rohan to start dating Dev. They officially parted ways in January 2009. Pinto has acted in movies like Immortals and Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Patel starred in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and currently appears on the HBO series “The Newsroom.”

The once much-in-love couple wore their hearts on their sleeves and revealed in an interview that they were soul mates. The pair had been madly in love with each other, they refused to even celebrate Valentine’s Day. In their own words “every day should be a celebration of love.”

Rumors about their split began circulating when Pinto recently celebrated her 30th birthday in October without Patel. Instead, she rang in her birthday hanging out with billionaire Siddharth Mallya who is aspiring actor and son of Indian businessman Vijay Mallya. Sources close to Freida say that she is currently single in a happy space. Recently, Pinto expressed her wish to star in a Bollywood film, and is keen on working with a female Indian director.

According to sources the Slumdog Millionaire sweety had called off their relationship much before. A kind of deja vu feeling from Matt Bellamy and Kate Hudson’s split, earlier this week. Caroline Flack also split from her boyfriend Jack Street.
