David Bowie remembered as ‘Master of Reinvention’

He also shared “Bowie Secrets, ” a popular video in which the rocker made droll confessions such as, “You’d think being a famous rock star married to a supermodel would be the greatest thing in the world”. At that point (Bowie died on Sunday), you’re no longer listening to the art of a living being but are hearing the pleas of a ghost, singing from beyond. His son Duncan Jones tweeted to confirm the news, reports abc.net.au.
“Blackstar”, released on Bowie’s 69th birthday Friday, was on course to be the first No. 1 album in the United States for the quintessentially avant-garde artist who lived his last two decades in NY but enjoyed greater mainstream success in his native Britain.
“So I’m just going to email you, David Bowie, and if you can check your email in space or heaven or wherever you are, you don’t have to email me back”. I’ll be offline for a while.
And after telling his loved ones he didn’t want a funeral, David’s body was apparently cremated in America without any family or friends present.
On Monday, Bowie’s producer, Tony Visconti, wrote on Facebook: “He always did what he wanted to do”.
Bowie shrines popped up around the world yesterday, with many fans in tears as they laid flowers.
Tributes have been pouring in since news of his passing this morning.
In South London, devotees threw a huge street party near the house in Brixton where Bowie grew up, singing his songs as they channeled their grief into a celebration of the star’s life.
One of the more unusual tributes came from Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, the Vatican’s culture chief.
