The Golden Raspberry Awards LLC has released its nominations for the 36th Annual Razzie Awards, dishonoring the worst in the past year’s cinema.
Fifty Shades is up for worst movie, and Co Down actor Jamie Dornan for worst actor award for his portrayal of billionaire masochist Christian Grey. This year’s nominees are Elizabeth Banks (Love & Mercy), M. Night Shyamalan (The Visit), Will Smith (Concussion), and Sylvester Stallone (Creed, for which he could potentially win an Oscar and a Razzie for the same performance).
The announcement of the Razzies, which launched in 1980 as a spoof of Hollywood’s awards season, comes ahead of the Oscar nominations on January 14.
Another Tampa Bay product who escaped Razzies attention is Patrick Wilson, although his Home Sweet Hell co-star Katherine Heigl earned a worst actress nomination.
The Razzies also took a jab at Kevin James in “Paul Blart Mall Cop 2”, Jennifer Lopez in “The Boy Next Door” and all four fantastics in “Fantastic Four”.
Perennial Razzie favourite Sandler, nominated for five consecutive years, this year scored nods for worst actor in Pixels and worst screen combo for “Adam Sandler & Any Pair of Shoes” for his role in The Cobbler – about a cobbler who can magically step into the shoes of his customers.
Vying for worst director are Andy Fickman for “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2”; Tom Six for “Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence)”; Sam Taylor-Johnson for “Fifty Shades of Grey”; Josh Trank for “Fantastic Four’; and Andy and Lana Wachowskis for “Jupiter Ascending”.
