Oscar Nominee George Miller Clarifies Comments About Not Making Another ‘Mad

“That was a completely garbled interview”, he told The Wrap.

Speaking with Page Six, he said, “I won’t make more Mad Max movies”. She completely got the wrong fragments of information that were just not true.

It’s not entirely surprising that this would come right after Miller nominations from the DGA and the Academy Awards, but the news that he was off the films never seemed right in the first place.

“We have two more (Mad Max) stories and it’s certainly a conversation, definitely, because we have a platform for the films and awareness for it”, he said.

We did rather suspect that the writer, director and all-round genius had been misquoted about no more Max movies, since he’d gone on record previously to talk up plans for sequels that explore more of the world he’s been creating for all these years. Nonetheless, it begs the question: what might he be making next, if not the new Mad Max, and when, oh when, can I see it?

Veteran Queensland-born filmmaker Miller had planned to shoot Fury Road in the Australian outback, but when unseasonal rain turned the arid landscape into handsome wildflowers he was forced to move it to the west African nation of Namibia. Plus, there remains every chance that even if he does make more Max films, he could still hand over at least one to someone else, preferring to stay involved as a producer.
