David Bowie died from liver cancer – friend
Like many famous personalities and members of the music industry, Jimmy Fallon took the time to pay tribute and give a message to the late David Bowie.
A memorial concert has also been planned in David’s honour in New York’s Carnegie Hall in March.
Angie broke down on the show, which is now being shown on TV3 and Channel 5 in the United Kingdom, on learning of Bowie’s sudden death on Sunday after a battle with cancer.
Bowie was named best British male at the 2014 Brit Awards – becoming the oldest recipient of a Brit Award in the ceremony’s history.
The Rolling Stones tweeted, “The Rolling Stones are shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the death of our dear friend David Bowie”. Sales of Blackstar doubled in the hours following the news of his death. Appearing alongside contemporary hits from the likes of Drake, Adele and Justin Bieber are Bowie classics like “Let’s Dance” and songs from his just-released album, “Blackstar”.
Bowie described the video as an over-the-top parody of racial stereotypes and an indictment of ‘invasion and exploitation’.
The show’s presenter Michael Dorf told Pollstar, “From a promoter’s standpoint, the show sold out in two hours – all 2,800 tickets – and that is an unprecedented thing for anything I’ve ever experienced”.
The singer and songwriter was born David Jones in London but became David Bowie, an androgynous mystery man with movie star looks and shape-shifting taste.

Aside from his own works, Bowie produced long time friends Lou Reed and Iggy Pop who Bowie first met alongside art icon Andy Warhol in the heyday of the 70’s NYC art happenings.
In recent months, after years of relative silence, he went on a prodigious streak, inspired in part by his fading health, said those who knew.
“Because no-one had any idea that he was sick so I guess that’s it and how creative he was and the influence he did have on music”. “His star will shine in the sky forever”. Only last week he was receiving happy birthday well wishes.
“After that tour”, Stein adds, “we toured with some of our peers and there would be frequently more competition”.
“A true artist even in his passing, the world is more bright and mysterious because of him, and we will continue to shout prayers into the atmosphere he created”.
For others, such as van Hove, Bowie’s final bow was on the opening night of Lazarus last month.
