Titans hire Jon Robinson as general manager
The Titans are expected to name former Patriots’ director of college scouting Jon Robinson as their new general manager as early as Thursday, which means New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels could be in play as a possible head coaching candidate with the Titans.
The Tennessee Titans have made a decision to trust his is the vision that can lead them back to respectability and postseason participation.
The Titans fired their former G.M., Ruston Webster, after the season.
Robinson’s first task will be deciding on a head coach. The Buccaneers have brought in the correct personnel over the past two years to get the team where it is today, and Robinson has been right in the middle of it all. Robinson had served as the Patriots director of college scouting before getting the promotion to director of player personnel with the Bucs.
Three head coaching vacancies have already been filled. The Browns hired Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson on Wednesday.
Robinson confirmed to Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune he accepted the position after Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the two sides “agreed in principle” on a deal for the position.
It is unclear who Robinson would prefer as head coach, or how much say he’ll have in the hiring process. They’re planning on interviewing him on Friday, according to the Tennessean, which also reports that the Titans will interview Jaguars assistant head coach Doug Marrone and Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin as well. The Patriots host the Chiefs in a divisional round playoff game Saturday.
Wow, I actually really like the hire of Jon Robinson for the @Titans.
