Honda Puts Android Auto in New 2016 Accord
To start with, the 2016 Honda Accord will be the first model to get CarPlay and Android Auto.
Along with the inclusion of the two infotainment systems, Honda’s 2016 Accord will also come with a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display and a Honda Sensing system. Details on the Accord Hybrid will be announced at a later date. A new aluminum hood features sharper character lines that meet up with a brighter, more expressive front grille. The Touring sedan also gets a new rear deck spoiler. Upping the tech, the Accord can now be had with LED headlights, LED foglights and LED taillights. Not only that, but Honda says that this new Accord is “among the first high-volume cars” in the marketplace to feature both smart auto software packages.
When Android Auto was debuted in June of 2014, a variety of automobile manufacturers signed on to support Google’s in-car offering. Honda is the latest automaker to show off a production implementation. Supported apps include Phone, Messages, Maps, Music and compatible third party apps.

GM previously announced most of its 2016 model year cars would offer these features, and Hyundai is making them available in its Sonata mid-size sedan, with more models promised. Features have been rejigged across the line-up, while feature additions include rain-sensing wipers, heated rear seats and 60:40 split folding rear seats.
The US market press release says the Accord which is due for an August market launch will continue with the existing engine line-up there, which is a direct injected 2.4 litre paired to a CVT gearbox and a 3.5 litre V6 paired to a six-speed auto. John Mendel, Honda’s top sales executive in the U.S., said in a statement.
