NBC aims for live telecast of musical ‘Hairspray,’ Meyers’ contract extended

And the night before his West Coast appearance, Fallon will be hitting primetime with The Tonight Show Valentine’s Day Anniversary Special, on Sunday, Feb. 14 from 9 – 11 p.m.

On its own, the accident would’ve hardly been newsworthy, but coming on the heels of rumors about Fallon’s hard partying, as well as a freaky incident in which he chipped a tooth last August, the fall prompted questions and concerns about Jimmy’s drinking habits. Greenblatt said that, while he has not personally discussed the issue with Fallon, others at the network have. But NBC doesn’t think he has one, although the network has told him to turn it down a notch.

Though NBC cut its relationship with Trump after his controversial comments about immigrants, Trump later appeared on several NBC programs, including Saturday Night Live and the Tonight Show. Not everything’s going to be a big name to the whole audience. “Digital video consumption of our content increased over 50 percent in 2015 to 6 billion views”, Greenblatt said.

With those comedies, and the ones on his development slate for next season, including sitcoms from Tina Fey and Parks and Recreation co-creator Mike Schur, “I feel like we’re really beginning to get our edge back in the comedy arena”, Greenblatt said. “GLAAD documented us as the most diverse network”.

As BWW reported yesterday, Greenblatt announced that the network’s next live musical presentation will be an adaption of the Tony-winning musical HAIRSPRAY. “Aside from that, he’s in better shape than he’s ever been”.

Let’s just say what we’re all thinking… it was for ratings!
