Autopsy set on Pennsylvania girl, 12, shot during eviction
The girl, identified by relatives as Ciara Meyer, was standing behind her father in the doorway of their home Monday morning in Penn Township when a uniformed state police constable showed up to serve an eviction notice, state police said Tuesday. An autopsy is scheduled Wednesday. “Her family and friends will miss her”.
“The father put the constable in a situation where he had to make a decision to use deadly force”, the trooper said.
Ciera Meyer wasn’t at school that day because she was sick.
According to the Associated Press, the constable fired at an armed tenant, but the bullet passed through the man’s arm and fatally struck his daughter.
The death has been ruled a homicide but Constable Street has not been charged with any offence.
Her father, Daniel Meyer, was airlifted to a hospital for treatment.

He said that constables have sufficient training to fulfill their current work for the state’s district courts. Citing state Supreme Court records and the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, the article says constables can but art not required to carry firearms. Even so, he says the Order does support legislation to increase the training hours for constables.
