Patriots will host Chiefs in Divisional Round
Do you have any guess why the Kansas City Chiefs can be the victor against the New England Patriots in the next Sunday’s AFC divisional round playoff game scheduled to be held at 4:35 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium? Less than 24 hours after the Texans lost in their Wild Card game to Kansas City, Watt was still feeling the after-effects of the game.
Watt will undergo surgery to fix a groin injury he suffered in a 30-0 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, the team announced.
Perhaps the tone for the game was set right away when the Texans kickoff unit allowed a 106-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the game. Dontari Poe recovered it at the Kansas City 42 for the Chiefs and they extended their lead to 10-0 on a 49-yard field goal.
Houston Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer was embarrassed by his performance in Saturday’s playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Hoyer finished the game 15 of 32 for 156 yards and 4 interceptions, and the Texans finished with just 226 yards of total offense.
“I think next year going to be a big, big season for me”, he said. Running back Spencer Ware had 67 yards and a TD on 16 carries to steady the offense when needed. It was the second-longest kickoff return TD in postseason history.
“The best thing for us in this game was to stick with [Hoyer]”, O’Brien told reporters.
Watt left Saturday’s playoff game with a groin injury in the third quarter and didn’t return after Chiefs left tackle Eric Fisher shoved him to the turf.
The Chiefs mustered just 136 yards in the first half, but with the Hoyer imploding, Houston finally succumbed defensively.
Hoyer was once again throwing off his back foot on the play because Poe had put a nice swim move on the Texans offensive lineman who didn’t have much of a chance. “It’s something we’ve been dealing with for six or seven weeks now. That is just not the way it was supposed to go”.
It could not be all good news for the Chiefs though, as Jeremy Maclin went down in the third quarter with what is being called a right knee sprain at this time. Hoyer tossed another interception in the fourth quarter and had two more errant passes dropped by Chiefs defenders.
