Sony Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact will hit U.S. on February 7
Sony says that the Xperia Z5 (shown above) and Xperia Z5 Compact (shown below) will be sold in the United States starting February 7.
After releasing months ago in Europe, Sony has made a decision to release each Stateside as GSM unlocked phones, so there isn’t a carrier tie-in here. In any case, they will work on AT&T and T-Mobile (LTE networks included), but not on Verizon and Sprint.
Arguably the best smartphone Sony has released thus far is the trio of devices announced late past year.
The Verge warns that the back of the Xperia Z5 is blanketed in frosted glass, meaning dropping the smartphone could result in it breaking. But, I suppose later is better than never, especially since these phones still rock somewhat competitive specs based on what’s available in early 2016. We loved the Z5 Compact, as well. These are two great phones, but they could have a tough time competing with devices like the Moto X or the recently discounted Nexus 5X.
After making its debut in Germany in September 2015, Sony’s flagship Xperia Z5 is finally making its way to the US.
Purchase of Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact includes an additional unique entertainment offer. “The Xperia Z5 Compact has a 4.6” 720p (319 PPI) screen, with 2 GB of RAM, the same 32 GB of storage, and a 2,700mAH battery.
“Recent Sony phones have delivered really good experiences, but their marketing and distribution has been a bit soft for the US market, which is dominated by Apple and Samsung and is carrier-led”, he added. It features a 5.2-inch 1080p screen, 3GB of RAM, a 23MP camera with 4K resolution video recording capability, IP68-rating waterproofing and a microSD card slot.
Numerous options and features rival options available today from the Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4, or Nexus 6P. Both smartphones run Android Lollipop, and will soon be updated to Android Marshmallow. Now the standard Xperia Z5 and the smaller Xperia Z5 Compact will join the club, announced Sony.
