Aston Villa have £12m bid accepted for French striker Ayew
By Graeme Bailey Aston Villa have agreed a deal to sign Ghana worldwide striker Jordan Ayew, Goal understands.
Manager Tim Sherwood wants pace to go alongside Emmanuel Adebayor and is looking for another winger too.
Villa are keen in the Ghana global who scored 12 Ligue 1 goals in 29 appearances for Lorient in his first season for the club after a £3million move from Marseille.
The Times, meanwhile, claims the Midlanders have registered an interest in Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani, while the Daily Mail says the club is monitoring developments in Ashley Young’s contract talks at Manchester United.
Ayew would be Villa’s third France-based signing of the summer following the arrivals of defensive midfielder Idrissa Gueye from Lille and left-back Jordan Amavi from Nice.
And according to Sky Sports, Villa’s £12m offer for Ayew has been accepted by Lorient, with Ayew set to fly in to England to negotiate personal terms.
Brother of new Swansea City forward Andre Ayew, Jordan is also said to have been inspired by the prospect of a bigger audience and a more competitive leagie in his burgeoning career.
