Dolphins close to deal with Adam Gase on head coaching job
Of course, as soon as the Bears season ended, Gase was back on the interviewing trail, and has officially interviewed with several teams, including the Miami Dolphins.
Adam Gase is leaving the Chicago Bears to become head coach of the Miami Dolphins after finalizing an agreement with his new club Saturday.
Gase will be charged with improving a Dolphins team that finished bottom of the AFC East this season with a 6-10 record.
Tannehill now has a 29-35 record as a starter.
Offensive coordinator Adam Gase has left the Bears after one season to become head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
The 37-year-old is the 12th head coach in Dolphins history and replaces interim coach Dan Campbell, who took over in mid-season after Joe Philbin was sacked in October.
Said Cutler: “I wish he could stay with us in Chicago….” He’s extremely bright on all things football… he’ll be an excellent head coach, without a doubt. “I’m going to be working directly with him, and I am going to hire guys on the offensive staff that also will help him develop”. “I think it’s going to start with me”, Gase said. In Cutler’s only season with Gase and Loggains, he posted a single-season career-best 92.3 passer rating.
Gase didn’t play college football, but he worked his way up the coaching ranks, starting off as a graduate assistant for Nick Saban at LSU.
The Philadelphia Eagles have lost their top head coaching candidate. “He’s is ready for this for sure”.
According to media reports, Miami has found its new head coach – and he won’t be from New England.
Meanwhile, the 49ers head coaching search continues with names like Chip Kelly, Mike Shanahan, and Hue Jackson (who will be interviewed on Sunday) being tossed around as potential replacements for the lackluster Jim Tomsula. He was Denver’s offensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014 when the Broncos and Peyton Manning led the league in scoring offence (34.0 points per game), total offence (430.1 yards per game) and passing offence (315.8 yards per game). The Dolphins haven’t been to the playoffs since 2008, when they had their most recent winning season.
