Nikki Haley Defends Her Words
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley’s tone deaf, anti-conservative, establishment Republican “rebuttal” to Obama’s final State of the Union speech was supposed to be her audition for the Vice Presidential spot on a Rubio, Bush, Christie or Kasich ticket.
HALEY: During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices. Trying to spin his message, Cruz said “framing it another way, not a lot of conservatives come out of Manhattan, I’m just saying”.
“She is a woman who was accidentally elected because she’s pretty and isn’t very bright, can we say that?” She appeared on NBC at a show called “Today” when she said that Mr. Trump has often contributed in speaking irresponsibly.
Both Republicans and Democrats are set to pick their presidential nominees in July, leading up to November’s national election to pick Obama’s successor when he leaves office in a year.
GOP hopeful and business mogul Donald Trump was one of ten candidates to participate in the prime-time debate.
She also said no one willing to work hard “should ever feel unwelcome in this country” – an apparent response to Trump’s controversial statements about Mexican immigrants and his plan to temporarily bar Muslims from entering the U.S.
“We need to recognize our contributions to the erosion of the public trust in America’s leadership”, she said of Republicans.
Haley is the daughter of Indian immigrants.
The Wisconsinite’s comments did more than stick up for Haley, who spent Wednesday enduring a wave of blistering criticism from the far right in the party.
“Look i can appreciate that they’re angry but I said what I believed, I stand by what I believe”, she explains. He favors Cruz as a potential vice presidential candidate.
“We must fix our broken immigration system”. “We’ve never in the history of this country passed any laws or done anything based on race or religion”.
He did not mention Trump by name, but he did slam politicians who insult Muslims, noting many serve in uniform in US armed services. “Take it if you want, take if you don’t but I think our country would be better if you take it”.
The Democratic president said critics played into Islamic State’s hands by comparing the fight against the militant group to World War Three, even as he acknowledged that the group and al Qaeda posed a direct threat to the American people.
He also suggested that Haley was a hypocrite saying “Over the years, she’s asked me for a hell of a lot of money in campaign contributions”.
Several conservative pundits predicted following Haley’s address that she had made a mistake by turning on Trump.
But to Governor Nikki Haley and the rest of the Republican establishment the problem in DC isn’t that they have caved-in and adopted Obama’s policies and agenda as their own, it is the loud voices of conservatives who object and are demanding that elite attempts to fundamentally change America by dismantling constitutional government be stopped.
