Jimmy Fallon: NBC Issues Statement About Host’s Drinking Problem
The “Tonight” show host hurt himself in falls three times within five months past year, the most serious in June requiring delicate hand surgery after he caught his ring finger on a countertop.
NBC is standing by “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon as rumors about his health continue to surface. Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris won’t be back next year, but Greenblatt is continuing to look for ways to make a splash with live programming. The network’s previous live musicals were “Peter Pan” with Allison Williams and “The Sound of Music” with Carrie Underwood.
NBC announced on Wednesday “Hairspray” will be the network’s next live musical. “Always, we are anxious about his safety”.
According to NBC entertainment chair Robert Greenblatt, the network didn’t actually think Trump would last in the presidential race! “There’s been conversations about that [but] the stories are exaggerated about this”. “No”, Greenblatt said. “Jimmy will be with us for years to come, perhaps long after I leave NBC and some of you leave your jobs”. “I don’t think there’s an infinite number of these that can be done”.
“We had a couple businesses that we were doing with him [and] we got out of both of those businesses”, Mr Greenblatt said.
Let’s just say what we’re all thinking… it was for ratings!
Similar to “The Wiz” and NBC’s standing list of live television musicals, “Hairspray” is sure to have an all-star cast, although no official announcements regarding the roles have been made. “GLAAD documented us as the most diverse network”.
Greenblatt also told Us Weekly that NBC would love to have John Travolta, who starred in the “Hairspray” movie, star in their version.
