Celine Dion & Rene Angelil’s Romance Remembered: A Timeline
Singer-songwriter Céline Dion’s husband René Angélil died at his Las Vegas home Thursday morning after a long battle with throat cancer.
The couple married in 1994. At one point, Dion stopped performing to take care of Angelil but returned back to the stage this past summer because Rene insisted she return to what she loves.

Tanya Scaccia took to Dion’s Facebook page and said, “thoughts and prayers for Celine, her family and loved ones…”
A longtime friend and collaborator of the late Rene Angelil says he felt a strong bond with Celine Dion’s husband from the moment they met. “I want to see you perform again, ‘” she said at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. This is the first public appearance for Angelil since undergoing cancer treatments.
“‘Rene says to me, ‘I want to die in your arms.’ OK, fine, I’ll be there, you’ll die in my arms, ‘” Dion said.
Angelil died in Henderson under the care of a doctor, Clark County Coroner John Fudenberg said.
Barry Garber, who helped Montreal become a music mecca, was there in the early years with Celine and Rene.
Rene Angelil, Celine Dion’s husband and manager, has died at his suburban Las Vegas home.
The couple had three kids together -René-Charles, 14, and their twin boys Nelson and Eddy, 5.
She called Angelil the “only boyfriend I ever had”. He had three adult children from a previous relationship – Anne-Marie, Patrick and Jean-Pierre.
