DiCaprio Shares Best Actor Award with Indigenous People
The Golden Globes also allow for the opportunity to shine the light on two actors’ performances.

Revenge drama “The Revenant” and space adventure “The Martian” took the top film awards at Sunday’s Golden Globes, setting them up as formidable Oscar contenders after a night of surprises and stinging barbs from return host Ricky Gervais.
The stars of the winning films, Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon, also took home the Globes for best actor, for a drama and comedy, respectively.
The film’s director, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, won best director.
The Best-Comedy-or-Musical award went to “The Martian”. While critical favorites “Carol”, “Spotlight“, and “The Big Short” were completely shut out, their status as Oscar frontrunners likely has not changed. He has been nominated for Oscars a total of four times, and he has yet to walk away with one. Oscar nominees will be announced on January 15. Even if a movie doesn’t take home gold in February, that doesn’t mean it isn’t worthy of an Academy Award.
Not one to let a joke end too early, Mr Gervais apparently closed the awards show with “Shalom”: “From myself and Mel Gibson, shalom”. “It’s very rewarding, you know…I think people appreciate seeing a different kind of cinema out there – a more visceral kind of movie”. Probably not much. First of all, Oscar nomination ballots were due last week, before the Golden Globes. Henson also dedicated hers to all her “haters”.
The “Poker Face” hitmaker – whose last solo LP release was 2013’s “Artpop” – has vowed to bring out a record this year but she can’t say when the new tracks may drop. “She’s amusing and hilarious and will win many things”. And rising star Brie Larson beat veteran Cate Blanchett to win Best Drama Actress for her performance in “Room”.
Winslet won for best supporting actress in a film for her role in Steve Jobs, and Stallone won for best supporting actor in Creed, where he reprised his role of boxer Rocky Balboa.
