NBC’s next live musical will be Hairspray
NBC chief Bob Greenblatt said he would be open to having John Travolta, who played Tracy Turnblad’s mother Edna in the 2007 version of “Hairspray”, reprise his role in the TV version.
After rumors surfaced that the late night host had been too intoxicated too many times, an NBC executive is going on the record to defend his employee’s reputation.
Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt spoke publicly on Wednesday about reports of Jimmy Fallon’s drinking following the “Tonight Show” host’s string of odd injuries over four months. At a party in Harvard in October, he fell on a broken bottle slicing his other hand. “He goes out and has fun”. “There’s been conversations about that, [but] the stories are exaggerated about all of it”.
Greenblatt says that no deals for the production have been finalized as of right now.
So there you have it. Jimmy Fallon’s not a drunk!
Fallon was forced to step away from “Tonight Show” for almost two weeks previous year after he nearly severed his left ring finger at his home.
“I think it was”, he said.
According to Greenblatt, we’ll have to wait until the show gets more seasoned before it gets the remake treatment. Theater legend Audra MacDonald did NBC’s The Sound Of Music Live and would make an incredible Motormouth Maybelle since Queen Latifah is unlikely to return.
NBC specifically cited Trump’s comments that Mexican immigrants are “bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists and some, I assume, are good people” in its June business decision. I think it’d be a thrilling movie or television experience, and yeah, I’d love to.
It’s looking like it will soon be mashed potato time on NBC: The peacock network is planning to tackle “Hairspray” as its next live musical production.
“I’m thrilled about our diversity throughout the whole network”, Greenblatt said.
