Cloverfield 2: trailer for Paramount’s surprise sequel
Slashfilm did a little digging and came to the conclusion that 10 Cloverfield Lane is actually the secret Bad Robot project from director Dan Trachtenberg, who previously helmed the popular Portal: No Escape short. Some may seem to forget about the promised and hinted at sequel to 2008’s Cloverfield that has been dead as far as information on it. Then all of a sudden, a trailer has been released for 10 Cloverfield Lane and no-one had any clue it was even coming.
Rather than a sequel to Matt Reeves’ 2008 found-footage monster movie, Abrams tells Collider that the new film is “a blood relative to Cloverfield”. The idea was developed over time. Regardless, the trailer is fantastic.
Film fans all over the world have been surprised today, with the release of the 10 Cloverfield Lane trailer. It now turns out that Valencia was just a placeholder title, with those scamps at Abrams’ Bad Robot pulling the wool over our eyes.
Indeed, this trailer starts out hunky dory before we slowly being to realize that things are, well, not hunky dory at all. It does have similarity to Faults, in some ways, because you don’t know who’s telling the truth or who to believe.
This is really more of a teaser than a trailer, but I like it a lot. “Tonally, it’s very different, but it has some of those same themes”. Only two weeks into the New Year and it’s already time to restructure that most anticipated list.
According to IMDB 10 Cloverfield Lane’s synopsis is: Waking up from a vehicle accident, a young woman finds herself in the basement of a man who says he’s saved her life from a chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable’.
