6 killed, 100 injured in quake in NE India
India’s remote north-east region has been hit by a 6.7 magnitude quake but there was no immediate word on casualties.
Some people were injured in each of these states while some buildings developed cracks, official said. The three deaths in Bangladesh are a man of 23 years who died from a stroke after fleeing his home, while a farmer and a university are all dead because of a heart attack, according to police.
Residents said power and communication links were down in the remote region.
An official at Myanmar’s Meteorological Department in Naypyidaw said there were no reports of damage or casualties on their side of the border.
Rajnath Singh said the Center will provide all necessary help and support to Manipur and other affected states.
The Manipur government said that at least 10 people were killed alone in Imphal town so far.
People in the area should anticipate aftershocks over the next several days, but they will likely be of a lesser magnitude than the one that struck early Monday morning. It forced people to run out of their bed screaming for open ground, seeking divine intervention for their safety at the wee hour today.

The deaths occurred from building collapses in Imphal town, the state capital.
Teams from the National Disaster Response Force have been instructed to move from Assam’s capital Guwahati to areas affected by the quake, the Indian Prime Minister’s Office tweeted.
Relief commissioners of all the states in the North-East: Manipur, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Nagaland and the State of West Bengal are being contacted on regular basis.
