NBC Executives On Jimmy Fallon Health Concerns, Ricky Gervais Golden Globes
Greenblatt said the late-night host “doesn’t have a drinking problem that any of us know about”.
Entertainment Chief Bob Greenblatt made a statement about Jimmy Fallon, saying that the company does not believe Jimmy has an alcohol problem, but they are always anxious about his safety. He’s had some accidents. Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris won’t be back next year, but Greenblatt is continuing to look for ways to make a splash with live programming. “There’s been conversations about that”.
In October, the 41-year-old injured his other hand at Harvard University, when he fell while holding a bottle of Jagermeister after accepting the Elmer Award for Excellence in Humor.
According to Entertainment Weekly, however, Greenblatt did admit that NBC has some concerns about Fallon’s health.
Last June, Fallon nearly severed his finger when he tripped and fell in his apartment. NBC president of non-scripted Paul Telegdy noted today that ratings for Gervais’ return were down only a fraction from a year ago against strong competition.
“I think that reconciles quite easily with we’re not in business with him, but love it or not, he’s one of the most important political figures of our time and he’s on our shows”. “He laughed at me”, she said. On Feb. 21, the network will air an all-star tribute to legendary TV director James Burrows that will feature appearances by the cast members of numerous shows he directed, including all six stars from Friends. “They said, ‘OK, we have a whole waiting room for people who trip and fall with Jagermeister'”.
Besides its dramas, NBC also got a boost from the musical event “The Wiz Live” and its musical talent show “The Voice”.
Let’s just say what we’re all thinking… it was for ratings!
