Chapo extradition may take years
Guzman is now being held at the same maximum-security prison from which he escaped in July with inside help, but Mexican authorities fear that he will buy his way out again with his vast wealth.
Before his bold jailbreak a year ago, notorious drug boss Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman instructed his lawyers to trademark his name, giving Mexican authorities their first clue he wanted to make a film of his life, local media said on Tuesday.
“If one of these American actors who have benefited from the greatness of this country, who have made money from our free enterprise system, want to go fawn all over a criminal and a drug trafficker in their interviews, they have a constitutional right to do it. I find it grotesque”. Badillo said he was certain his client would not have said that.
(Mexico’s federal government via AP). “It shows that the public can have confidence in its institutions”, Pena Nieto said.
He was able to escape, but they were able to later track him to a house in Los Mochis where Mexican marines nabbed him after a shootout that left five people dead. He said Guzman was taken alive and was not wounded. He cited one extradition case that took six years.
In the end, Guzman narrowly escaped.
Federal officials who were not authorized to be quoted by name said that a significant part of the 2,500-strong force hunting the drug lord were soldiers sent into the mountains where he was hiding, to set up a security perimeter.
Translation: The truth behind El Chapo’s capture is that EPN needed to create a newsy event to distract Mexico from its economic disaster.
“Each and every each one of the flaws have been fixed”, an official said.
In light of that, it is surprising that Guzman, who spent years evading capture, would have continued in such constant contact with the actress. In 2001, Guzman was wheeled out by a janitor in a laundry cart. According to the Daily Mail, America has submitted extradition requests since this is the second time El Chapo has escaped from a Mexican prison facility but, to no avail. They moved the refrigerator, which had bullet holes, but no tunnel was there. “Drug trafficking? That’s false”.
There has been lots of chatter about the possibility of extradition for El Chapo, but Mexican authorities refuse to release him.
“I came for the new shirt that “El Chapo” was wearing in the interview, people are asking for it”, he said.
His mugshot emerged as Mexican officials continue their investigation into Hollywood star Sean Penn, who travelled to Mexico to interview Guzman while he was on the run.
Once the Mexican marines enter the property, shots can be heard.
Badillo said he believed reports about them having a close relationship were “pure speculation”. The grenade launcher was found loaded, with an extra round nearby.
But from one quarter, at least, there was pure excitement. “It is a big success for the government”. Guzman is wanted in a half-dozen USA states. Or should he serve his sentence in Mexico? His associates sped him away in the trunk of a Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
