AMBER Alert canceled for missing sisters from Southwest Michigan
An Amber Alert was issued for the 3- and 4-year-old sisters early Friday after they were discovered missing late Thursday from their home in southwestern Michigan’s Berrien County.
Dawson said police issued a nationwide Amber Alert with descriptions of the children and the father’s vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet Impala, which led to them being found by authorities in Colorado.
According to reports, a deputy on patrol in Georgetown, Colo. came across a vehicle that was parked with its lights on and engine running. Oskel saw an adult man in the driver’s seat and two young children in the passenger compartment.
Two girls, just 3 and 4-years-old, are safe; their father is in custody after a dire overnight search that crossed state lines.
Police in Colorado said the girls have been taken into protective custody unharmed. The other victim was a male believed to be related to the mother.
The girls were taken from their home in southwest MI after a double homicide.
Other details about the investigation were not immediately released.
