Oscars 2016: Ice Cube responds to Straight Outta Compton nominations snub

We understand that picking nominees is a tough task, but 2015 was one of the best years for black filmmakers and entertainers.

Best supporting actress nominees are Jennifer Jason Leigh (“The Hateful Eight”), Rooney Mara (“Carol”), Rachel McAdams (“Spotlight“), Alicia Vikander (“The Danish Girl”) and Kate Winslet (“Steve Jobs”). Stallone, who received his first Acting nomination in 1976 for “Rocky”, is the sixth person nominated for playing the same role in two different films.
Sam Smith has been nominated for the best original song Oscar for Writing’s On The Wall, the theme to James Bond film Spectre.
After last year’s nominations led to the notorious hashtag #OscarsSoWhite trending, the Academy has made a public effort to increase diversity with a more varied set of board candidates and bringing back Chris Rock as host for this year’s ceremony.
