Jeep Cherokee Goes Posh with New Overland Trim
A four-wheel drive Cherokee Overland starts at $38,395, a full $7,400 more than the Cherokee Limited or Cherokee Trailhawk and $13,000 more than the cheapest Cherokee four-by-four.
The Cherokee Overland is a direct response to the benchmark 4×4 capability demand.
Visual upgrades for the 2016 Jeep Cherokee Overland include body-color fascias, a new chin spoiler, a chrome grille, body-colored fender flares and door cladding, 18-inch polished wheels, HID headlights, and a special “Overland” liftgate badge.
Officials wouldn’t say what percentage of buyers they expect will select the Overland model, but Mr. Morrison said the model accounts for a significant percentage of Jeep Grand Cherokee sales.
On the inside, the Jeep Cherokee Overland will be fitted with Nappa leather, and heated seats with ventilation.
Even as the Detroit Auto Show gets set to open to the public, Jeep is making more auto show news, only it’s in Boston. The Overland 4×4 model comes with 8.2-inches of ground clearance.
Jeep’s Active Drive II offroad system has been added. Selec-Terrain electronically coordinates and optimizes up to 12 systems on any terrain providing enhanced vehicle control, including: drivetrain control module, electronic brake controller, ESC, transmission controller, powertrain controller and Selec-Speed Control (Hill-ascent and Hill-descent Control).The system also includes Jeep Selec-Terrain, allowing drivers to choose between four modes (auto, sport, snow and sand/mud) which optimizes the 4×4 system to the driving conditions. Other options include a Heavy Duty Protection package and a 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 engine with 271 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque. The Jeep Cherokee stands out against competitors with unmatched off-road capability while not sacrificing on-road ride and handling, comfort or segment-leading features. The Cherokee Overland will in Jeep dealerships spring of 2016.
