Patriots DE Jones had reaction to synthetic marijuana
More details have emerged about the weird Sunday morning incident at the Foxborough, Mass., police department, that resulted in the hospitalization of New England Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones. “Right now, my main focus is becoming the best player I can be and helping the team”. Watch the New England Patriots take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Playoff Saturday at 4:35 p.m. on WPRI 12. Several lines are blacked out after Jones told the officers who he was and that he had “been told” to come to the police station.
The Patriots said Jones was present Monday morning, the day after he received medical attention, at 6:30 a.m. lifting weights.
Chandler Jones addressed the media Thursday for the first time since he was rushed to the hospital in a “confused” state.
Upon his arrival, according to reports released today by the police, it was apparent that Jones hadn’t done anything wrong, but rather needed assistance. Upon being escorted to an ambulance, he remembered he left his keys at his home, when police sent an officer to his home.
According to Foscaldo, Jones then “abruptly released his hands, and he started to move slowly to the ground… this same movement/motion was repeated at least twice”. We also know that a handful of reports have indicated that Jones may have been using synthetic marijuana just before he showed up at the police station. “For a quick second or two, this man held this position – it was like this man was trying to surrender (he was literally “as stiff as a board”/he was both upright and rigid)”.
When asked he if was scared for his life, Jones responded, “I understand your question, I do”.
Jones appeared nervous and anxious, police said, and was evaluated by paramedics. On Wednesday, citing a source familiar with the situation, the Boston Globe also reported that Jones did not overdose on a drug such as cocaine or heroin. He was lifting weights and did not miss any team activities.
Jones spoke to reporters Thursday and took responsibility for his actions. “That might be easier for all of us”, Belichick said.
