Wenger confirms Elneny signing
Arsenal have signed Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny from Swiss side Basel for an undisclosed fee, the English Premier League soccer leaders announced yesterday.
However, Wenger was concerned that matters could get out of hand, having seen recently some unpleasant scenes in France when fans confronted players and clubs over disappointing results.
And the Arsenal boss hopes Sanchez’s return – along with the likes of Danny Wellbeck and Jack Wilshere – can give them a lift as they continue to battle for three trophies. “Do we take a gamble or not on his injury?”
The Gunners’ strength in depth will be tested to the maximum in the coming weeks as the club battles to win the Premier League and Champions League titles and a third successive FA Cup.
Elneny is predicted to make his Arsenal debut against Stoke City on Sunday depending on the recovery of the players who faced Liverpool in a 3-3 draw last Wednesday. “But overall I think he has all the attributes to do well”.
“I took it as people who were upset because we lost a game and didn’t take it personally”. “He can be box-to-box and be a holding midfielder”.
Arsene Wenger completed the £5m signing of Mohamed Elneny – and that will spark a summer shake-up.
“At half time we came back in the game and again I think it is brilliant from Giroud but in the beginning we have to defend it better and be more concentrated”.
“We will have to see how players recover”.
The mood among Arsenal fans is a lot better this season, though, and Wenger said this season’s Stoke team may fit his team better as well.
“We have to show that we have made a big step forward and can beat them”, the Frenchman said.
“It is an indescribable feeling, I am really glad of course”, Elneny told Arsenal Player.
The Egypt worldwide has completed a drawn-out £5million transfer from Basle “subject to the completion of regulatory processes” but he is expected to be registered in time to be involved at Stoke on Sunday.
