Dragon Quest XI Might Be Released Before May 2017 In Japan
The first section of the game is playable, too.
The latest issue of Weekly Jupm has new details on Square Enix’s upcoming 3DS monster training RPG Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3. However, this release window is only targeting the Japanese market. Mr. Horii couldn’t add more on the game, but he revealed that the publisher is aiming to release the game during the Dragon Quest 30th anniversary year, between May 27th 2016 and May 27th 2017.
The report cites “Dragon Quest IX” as a sample of how long it takes for one of these titles to release outside of Japan. The PS4 version looks handsome in Unreal Engine 4, and like a current generation, ambitious undertaking, like Dragon Quest 8 was on the PS2 back in the day. It’s not yet clear whether the May release will also apply to Europe or not.
Then there is also the debacle regarding the 3DS versions of “Dragon Quest VII” and “Dragon Quest VIII”.
Considering that it had not even been confirmed for a western release yet, and that western releases for these games are often staggered by a year or more, it is entirely possible we won’t get to play Dragon Quest 11 in the west until 2018.
In addition to partnering with Universal Studios Japan on a theme park attraction, the video game company will host large events nationwide and release five new games during the year, hoping to win new fans among the young while keeping the flame burning among its faithful base of gamers now middle age or older.
Unlike the previous game in the series, Dragon Quest X, Dragon Quest XI will return to being a single-player, offline title.
