New ‘X-Files’ trailer might be the best yet
Elsewise, the cast and creator Chris Carter spoke of the revival from the TCA press tour, in which Carter revealed that FOX had originally hoped for eight episodes, before scheduling forced it down to six.
The first episode focuses on the show’s mythology, with some detailed exposition, said Carter, who wants the series to appeal to longtime fans but also accommodate newcomers. “I’m waiting for Fox to come back and ask for more”, said Carter. “In this case, there are only six episodes so we had to do it in a shorter arc”. “It affects her a lot”.
As for how modern conspiracy culture plays into the new series, Carter has been choosy. “William is very, very present through all of these episodes. We have chemistry and history and we’re gonna try and get biology in there”. “It’s a re-entry into a series that hasn’t been on the air for 13 years”.
When the series started, Carter said he really felt the chemistry between Duchovny and Anderson – the relationship of their characters was a big part of X-Files appeal – when they first appeared in a scene in Mulder’s office.
In this video from his show “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” we see Anderson as F.B.I. They are back in a completely different way. His desire to not be typecast as Mulder, he said, acted as “a spur” for him to do more work, “to keep expanding myself as an artist, or as whatever I am”. That tension between civilians and the government provides a rich backdrop for this new iteration of episodes. “We’re living in a time where there’s a tremendous amount of distrust towards authority, the government even the media…” “Conspiracy sites are chock-a-block with the most outrageous stuff, but some of it actually is quite plausible”. “I let my wife read the third movie, and she said ‘I think not for television'”.
X-Files stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny have been reunited on the red carpet at the premiere in Los Angeles of a long-awaited new series of the hit TV show.
