Vancouver Police searching for 3 Middle Eastern men videotaping Pacific Centre Mall
Pacific Centre is a large shopping mall in downtown Vancouver.
“Around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12th, three Middle Eastern looking men were seen inside Pacific Centre Mall taking photographs of the entrances and exits”, Fincham said.
“There is no information to believe that these men have committed a crime, nor do we have information that the public is now at risk”.
“The police are obviously on top of it. But we must remain vigilant”, he said.
Because the story leaked out on social media last night, the VPD is now compelling to comment on it.
He said the information and photographs were part of an internal bulletin shared among police officers throughout the province.
Janine Ramparas said it was following standard operating procedures and that the mall encourages patrons and staff to alert management if they witness anything unusual.
Palmer addressed that with the media today about whether they would have issued a bulletin about the men if they were white. “The bottom line is we just don’t know at this point”.
The VPD has been conducting an investigation into the actions and identity of these three men. They could be contractors that could have been taking them for legitimate reasons. “I’m not saying it is a pre-attack, but it’s pretty close”. “We just want to talk to them”.
There have been a number of investigative steps that have taken place in an attempt to identify them.
