Connie Nielsen Roped In To Play Wonder Woman’s Mother
Connie Nielsen, the statuesque 50-year-old actress best known for turn-of-the-century films like “Rushmore”, “One Hour Photo” and most famously, “Gladiator”, has been cast in a key role in the currently-filming “Wonder Woman“.
It’s a smaller casting update, but considering how little we have at this point regarding the Wonder Woman film, beggars can’t be choosers.
Great Hera! Warner Bros.’ highly anticipated Wonder Woman movie has finally found its Queen Hippolyta.
Pine revealed this week that the film will be set at least partially during World War I. I’m curious to see how far back Wonder Woman will delve into the character’s history, but this particular mother-daughter relationship provides the opportunity to capture some fascinating-and contrasting-visuals for the picture.
Patty Jenkins will direct the film, which will be released on June 23, 2017.
Gal Gadot is playing the Amazonian princess and the cast already includes Chris Pine, portraying love interest Captain Steve Trevor, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, and Ewen Bremner.
