Kelly Clarkson, other ‘American Idol’ winners to appear throughout final season
According to Blosil, she was in fifth grade when Kelly Clarkson won the first season of “American Idol”, and though she failed at an opportunity to cover Clarkson’s “A Moment Like This” at a school talent show, she has no intentions of letting the same thing happen with her time on “American Idol”.
Even though Fox is billing season 15 of American Idol as the farewell season, talent and producers hint that it might not be the last.
Indeed, executive producer Trish Kinane says she’s constantly focused on not letting nostalgia for the series take over during this final year. She asked if Lopez remembered her mom, and Lopez responded, “I know Brenda from back in the day!”
Former judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson are expected to be seen in some capacity during the season. “There’s all sorts of logistics and schedules and all sorts of other commitments, but I’m pretty confident we’ll have an awesome finale with key people you’d expect to see there”. We had some good singers along the way and maybe even some that make the Top 24 on American Idol Season 15???
“I think the Eagles have had at least farewell tours”, Urban quipped, referring to the 1970s rock band that continues to tour.
Former “Idol” standouts are returning for this final season as mentors, and halfway through the panel, Fox brought out some.
Gail Pennington is attending the Television Critics Association press tour in Los Angeles. “A lot of the people on the panel today will be coming to work with and duet with our new contestants, and I think that’s going to be an unbelievable couple weeks of programming”. “I would say she’s my idol”, Gianna said. “I’m not so sure”.
American Idol judge Harry Connick Jr., the only judge to not vote “yes” after Kuntz’s rendition of the Allman Brothers’ “Stormy Monday”, expressed his concern that Kuntz would not be able to adapt to several genres required of contestants over the course of the competition.
