Packers’ Davante Adams ruled out vs. Cardinals
This time it will be for all the marbles in a NFC Divisional Playoff game.
Odds: The line has been remarkably steady all week, with Arizona favored by seven points at nearly all betting parlors. No one wants to play in Foxborough in January (except for maybe those Ravens and Jets teams). The Broncos should be able to win with error-free play from Peyton Manning and their defense. During the course of the week the dollars slowly but consistently shifted, to the point where 60% of the cash is now on Arizona. Those are the only three teams remaining from the 1922 season, when the American Professional Football Association changed its name to the NFL Packers LB Clay Matthews has 10 career playoff sacks, Cardinals DE Dwight Freeney nine. Two-thirds of the money line dollars are backing the Cardinals as of Friday afternoon. Officially, 12 hits, nine sacks, three fumbles (two returned for touchdowns) and more scrambles than a week of hotel breakfasts. The Cardinals never had a playoff bye before this season.
Goodwin said the Cards lost two such battles early in the last Packers meeting. The Packers haven’t had their regular starting line on the field since November 22 because of injuries first to right guard T.J. Lang and right tackle Bryan Bulaga, then center Corey Linsley and, the last three games, left tackle David Bakhtiari.
MISSING ALEX OKAFOR: Arizona will be without one of its best pass rushers, outside linebacker Alex Okafor, and the exact reason is a mystery. Even with the injury to Tyrann Mathieu, the defense has stepped up.
Pittsburgh at Denver (-7): All four road teams were winners last week, yet the Steelers were lucky, too, and they will need more good fortune to survive another round with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, wideout Antonio Brown and running back DeAngelo Williams hurting.
The Arizona Cardinals’ offense ranks 1 in yards per game and 2 in total points.
Green Bay might be without wide receiver Davante Adams because of a knee injury, but it could see the returns of left tackle David Bakhtiari and cornerback Sam Shields. On paper it looks like the Cardinals have a decided advantage in this matchup.
Mike McCarthy’s team must play with poise, take care of the ball and stay aggressive on defense. The victor will advance to Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on February 7 at 6:30 on CBS.
Still, the secondary might be one of the most consistent units on the field on a defense that has played fairly well this season. Former Patriot Ted Larsen is playing the best ball of his career, and has replaced the #7 pick of the 2013 draft, Jonathan Cooper in the starting lineup.
Common sense says the Packers can’t beat the Cardinals.
Tretter got help at times on the edge, but Rodgers liked the protection overall even when Tretter was going one on one.
This kid has been somewhat of a revelation after taking over lead back duties for veteran, Chris Johnson. He is listed as questionable for Saturday’s game, but the team is going to wait until game-time to see if there are still any signs of concussion.
Rodgers tossed two touchdowns, while having zero interceptions to go along with a 93.5 quarterback rating. They are very aggressive when it comes to getting after the quarterback. The Green Bay pass defense has given teams issues during the past five games.
“When you play long enough you are going to be on the wrong side at times, but I am confident that we have guys and myself that, when it matters for all the marbles, guys will show up”.
